Summer is by far our favorite time of year but it is harder on your skin than any of the other seasons, here are a few tips to keep your skin healthy this year.
Sun Exposure: If you have any type of chemical or heat treatments, blood pressure medication, or acne medication please stay out of the sun altogether. If you do happen to get fried this year use aloe with lidocaine which will help take away the sting of the burn and soothe it, also use emu oil to help moisturize your skin. Apply at least 5 times a day. Drink water to stay hydrated. Once burnt wear sunscreen, it is not good to get blistered over and over again. If you get burnt and start running a fever go to the hospital you probably have sun poisoning which can be deadly. The sun is great but it also causes skin cancer so take care of your skin.
Bumps: If you have any questions about weird bumps that have developed be sure to use sunblock when going out doors. It the spots starts to change rapidly or become painful or sore see your doctor right away.
Poison Ivy, Oak, or Sumac: Is caused by the oil secreted from different plants. Hydro-cortisone will help get rid of it, while calamine will stop it from itching if it gets into a cut or your eyes, nose or mouth see a doctor right away because if it gets into your blood stream it can be deadly.
Insect Bites: Apply an anti-itch cream or liquid on the bite to keep it from driving you crazy. Benadryl and hydro-cortisone are great to stop swelling. Keep area clean and put triple antibiotic ointment on the bite at least twice daily
Foot Fungus: Is caused by sweaty, damp environments. Always wear socks and under garments to prevent fungus. Goldbond powder will help keep the area dry and prevent chaffing. If it is on a child use a diaper rash cream or emu oil for a few weeks to stop it and prevent infection.
